We're looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Accounting Manager to strengthen our finance function in Spain. In this role, you’ll ensure accurate reporting, uphold financial compliance, and smooth day-to-day accounting, while also supporting our global Finance team with insights that drive scale and operational excellence.
This role combines hands-on accounting, cross-functional collaboration, continuous improvement and stakeholder management - the ideal fit if you thrive in dynamic, high-growth environments.
Day-to-day responsibilities:
Accounting Operations & Reporting
- Oversee daily accounting processes: accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger, reconciliations, and cash receipts.
- Prepare, review, and analyze financial statements for accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to guide decision-making.
Tax & Compliance Management
- Manage periodic returns: VAT/IGIC, income tax withholdings (payroll, professionals, rentals), and corporate tax instalments.
- Lead annual returns: VAT summary, withholding summary, and corporate income tax (Form 200).
- Handle registrations and modifications (Form 036/037) for new activities or corporate changes.
- Act as primary contact with Spanish tax authorities, preparing responses, coordinating inspections, and managing official communications.
- Ensure compliance with Spanish GAAP, IFRS, and internal policies.
Audit & Internal Controls
- Lead or support external audits with complete, accurate documentation.
- Maintain and improve internal controls, accounting policies, and procedures.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Improvement
- Partner with Sales, Operations, and global Finance to align financial practices with business needs.
- Translate financial insights into clear, actionable recommendations for non-finance stakeholders.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Liaise with banks, customs, and external advisors to ensure smooth financial operations.
What you'll bring to the table:
- 4+ years of experience in financial administration and accounting
- Fluent in English and Spanish, with strong command of accounting terminology in both languages and ability to explain complex financial matters in simple terms
- Strong knowledge of Spanish accounting principles, tax regulations, and IFRS.
- Proven track record in preparing and filing tax returns, coordinating audits, and managing compliance with authorities.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, paired with great attention to detail.
- Proficiency with ERPs and advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills
- High sense of ownership and ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, comfortable engaging with both internal teams and external institutions.
